Chris Fenner is a tubist in the U.S. Army, currently assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division’s All-American Band at Fort Bragg. He has experience in a variety of musical settings, from orchestra and concert band to chamber music and jazz. He has a particular affinity for the modern New Orleans brass band sound, specializing in aggressive sousaphone playing and extended techniques.
Mr. Fenner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music from Central Michigan University, where he studied with Dr. Mark Cox. Originally a saxophonist and guitarist, he began studying the tuba at age 15, and has been enjoying the view from the back row ever since. This diverse musical experience informs Mr. Fenner’s educational philosophy, focused on enriching students’ lives in addition to improving their technical abilities.
